Michelle Obama Defies Stereotypes
I get a little frustrated when every mention of Michelle Obama includes the fact that she's African American (as if we couldn't see that), but this story was much better than yesterday's article (sigh). Enjoy:

I don't know about you all, but I have a passion for trash tv. Seriously - I am HOOKED to anything that is reality trash. Am I embarrassed when I say I watch "Real Housewives of Atlanta?" Hell to the no. My justification is that I work very very hard, study very very hard, and lead an easily stressful life. I need balance! lol.
What do you think? I've heard about this several times over the years. Since my opinion really matters on this - I will say that I'm happy MJ found something that makes him happy.
I just saw this poem on my new blog of the week "Stuff White People Do" and thought it came right in time for a particular co-worker of mine. Enjoy:
For the White Person Who Wants to Know How to Be My Friend
The first thing you do is to forget that i'm Black.
Second, you must never forget that i'm Black.
You should be able to dig Aretha,
but don't play her every time i come over.
And if you decide to play Beethoven--don't tell
me his life story. They made us take music
appreciation too.
Eat soul food if you like it, but don't expect me
to locate your restaurants
or cook it for you.
And if some Black person insults you,
mugs you, rapes your sister, rapes you,
rips your house, or is just being an ass--
please, do not apologize to me
for wanting to do them bodily harm.
It makes me wonder if you're foolish.
And even if you really believe Blacks are better
lovers than whites--don't tell me. I start thinking
of charging stud fees.
In other words, if you really want to be my
friend--don't make a labor of it. I'm lazy.
Remember.

Apparently, the terrorists aren't as in love with Barack Obama as I am. Ouch. According to this Yahoo article, they've decided to lash out and go completely negative against Barack Obama and other black leaders in the White House. I guess they didn't get the memo about Barack Obama's Muslim beliefs or terrorist associations (joke).
Well here's a small excerpt of what they had to say (particularly Ayman al-Zawahri):
"Al-Zawahri dug into U.S. racial history to try to directly knock down that belief and argue Obama will be no more sympathetic than white leaders to what the al-Qaida leader called "the oppressed" of the world.
He said Obama was the "direct opposite of honorable black Americans" like Malcolm X, the 1960s Muslim African-American rights leader, who is known among some in the Arab world and seen as a symbol of anti-imperialism.
Al-Zawahri also called Obama — along with secretaries of state Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice — "house Negroes."

Funny vid I found on Afrobella's site (btw Ditto on protesting the ban of alcohol after 9pm, lol):
YAY!
He's so thin, hope the White House Chef hooks him up. Still love him though.
Didn't know whether to be offended or humored. I think I'll take the latter, I love sarcasm. Please scroll to the bottom and see "Personal Life." Funny ish.
Check it out HERE.
Shocking?! But good for her (singing Rihanna's "Live Your Life"). The recent Proposition 8 ban has led many people to become vocal about gay rights and I applaud her for speaking out. However, I hope this revelation doesn't come with tremendous backlash from the black community. For some reason, I'm assuming religious reasons?, black people are about 20 years behind the gay rights movement. I just think this is strange because in most black communities pregnant kids, drug dealers, and ex-convicts get more respect than homosexuals (wtf?).
Regardless of YOUR moral beliefs, please realize that you are not God and that each and every person will one day be judged based on their own merit. So take time and worry about yourself. I'm not gay, but I've never heard of that being my golden ticket for getting into heaven (if you can find this verse I may budge on this stance, because I'd like that golden ticket), so I don't know why straight people feel the need to stand on some pedestal and preach the "word" here....I'm just sayin' lets move forward.

This video is hilarious and SO TRUE. Enjoy:
These youtube videos still make me cry (can't believe it's been a week since election day). Here are the crowds that were outside on Election Night. Fun times. And check the diversity. I am SO proud to be an American right now!

Obama Win Causes Obsessive Supporters To Realize How Empty Their Lives Are
Interesting article. Here's an excerpt:
"For years, some scholars (including Roland Fryer) have argued that one factor in the black-white education gap is the “acting white” phenomenon, in which some students, as Fryer and David Austen-Smith wrote:
… have tremendous disincentives to invest in particular behaviors (i.e., education, ballet, etc.) due to the fact that they may be deemed a person who is trying to act like a white person (a k a “selling-out”). Such a label, in some neighborhoods, can carry penalties that range from being deemed a social outcast, to being beaten or killed.
If you believe in the “acting white” effect — not everyone does — then should you also believe in the potential of an “acting Obama” effect? That is, if “acting white” means that certain kinds of accomplishment are considered off-limits by certain kinds of black kids, will the fact that a black man (O.K., a mixed-race man) is now president of the United States change the perception of what it means to be accomplished, and what it means to be black?"

Buppies, I'm speechless. This rarely happens, but after partying all night, I'm still completely ecstatic! At this point i cannot describe the feeling I had when I saw the final results on the screen. With a house full of guests on pins and needles, seeing that shared elation was just AWESOME!!!!
And to put icing on the cake!, I rode down to the white house at about 1:30a.m. only to encounter deadlocked traffic with people (black, white, hispanic, middle-eastern) all crowded in the streets, screaming, giving high-fives, playing drums, singing, crying, hugging, and honking horns - it was surreal. Once I can put my words together, I'll try to add what I thought about at that moment. Until then, wow. Just wow.
WE DID IT!!!
President Barack HUSSEIN Obama!:
Take a look back? Well lets,
Ok, I know I'll catch a little flack for this, but ah well. I'm going INSANE this last few days counting down to election night and needed a laugh. It's hilarious:
