They CALL me MR. TIBBS!

Article: Enough!: Why Obama Should Release His Righteous Rage
I don't necessarily know how I feel about this article. I definitely understand and agree slightly with the point they are making, but this is a little bit overboard. Should I be offended? Not sure. I DO know that I agree with the fact that it's time for Obama to get a little upset. I appreciate his levelheadedness, but if the American People want John Wayne - give them John Wayne (check the pic). If the American People want a mom they can relate to, then Michelle needs to put on some jeans, a headband, and get her ass to WalMart. It's getting down to the wire and I'm getting extremely frustrated with these recent polls.

The first part of the article that really grabbed my attention is here:
"This is clearly part of Obama's lifelong attempt to present a nonthreatening persona, what Shelby Steele has dubbed the "iconic Negro." Think Oprah, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods. Now picture them in your mind... they're smiling aren't they?" - What?!

And PLEASE check out this video that they put at the end of the article - A TRIP. I swear they have Sidney Poitier saying "They call me MR. TIBBS!" in the end. Hilarious. I think?

brah'man needed to put a digital and media drop squad on his team right up front. the fact that he still hasn't done so - while the entire McCain campaign is being run by media and political drop squad - is very, very telling.

it's time to fight dirty...,

As much as I am all for getting ignant, Obama simply can't. His supporters should be the one putting out the attack ads but Obama has a swag that he needs to maintain in order to get into the white house. Racism is still very prevalent in this country and as soon as Obama gets mad he will immediately become the angry black negro and that can't be a good thing becuz let's face it, we are all still afraid of angry black men!

Good point MP. His supporters are donating to the wrong cause then. I'm sending my cash to moveOn.org immediately.

I feel there is much truth in this...

if white folks perceived him as threatening...we would not even be discussing his possible presidency.

2 things:

1) The difference between Obama and everyone else is that he's a real person and not a character. I'm pissed about all the lies, the negativity in the campaign, but I'm not running to be the President. I should hope the American people would NEVER vote me as President, I haven't a clue on the inner workings of government. All that to say, politicians and especially heads of state can't be like everyone else. They have to, on some level, be different, better equipped and I think Obama is.

2) Maybe, just maybe it isn't his "lifelong attempt to present a nonthreatening persona" Maybe that's just how he is. I know a guy who doesn't get upset. This dude just NEVER shows anger at all, ever. He'll retaliate when necessary or get his point across, but you'll never see a vane pop of his neck. That's just how he is. I wish people could see that.
