Damn Gustav!

Can New Orleans get a break? I mean really! Fortunately, Mayor Ragin responded quickly, with plans to evacuate nearly 100% of the residents in the potential eye of the storm. But damn, seriously, how many people do you think will end up staying to save their tv? I mean for real.
Now I guess it's time to sit back and see how the political candidates respond to this disaster (in New Orleans, Texas, AND Mississippi). Have we really learned much from Katrina? It was a hard lesson learned, but I hope so...

This storm has me on edge...I grew up on the TX coast and most of my family currently resides there...including my parents...

I also have a sister that is a professor at Dillard, and she and her family reside in Jefferson Parish.

I guess with all this global warming and the havoc we are reeking on our eco system...we are going to continue to have to deal with treacherous acts of nature.

Actually, I'm from the very city that you speak of, New Orleans. It has been an interestng weekend, just trying to make sure that everyone is safe and accounted for. We're still neighbors. I will be back to check in for updates.
